The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a drug syndicate that uses dispatch riders, disguised as couriers, to transport hard drugs and cannabis across the state.
According to the command Public Relations Office, SP Bright Edafe, intelligence reports revealed that some dispatch riders have been diverting from their legitimate courier services to deliver illicit substances.
The Command further disclosed that a group of young women, aged between 20 and 25, were arrested after lodging in a hotel for several months, using the premises as a hideout and sales point for drug distribution.
“These young girls turned the hotel into a base for selling drugs to their customers. They employed dispatch riders to move the drugs from one location to another, while also selling them directly at the hotel,” the police stated.
The Command assured the public of its continued efforts to dismantle drug networks and criminal hideouts in the state, while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide useful information that can aid security agencies in their operations.
