Forty years after veteran journalist and former Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lanre Arogundade, earned a Second Class (Lower Division) degree in Psychology from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), his daughter, Fesiayo Arogundade, has surpassed his academic feat.
On December 11, 1985, Arogundade graduated from Ife with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Four decades later, on October 9, 2025, his younger daughter, Fesiayo, proudly followed in his footsteps by earning a B.Sc. in Psychology from Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, finishing with a Second Class (Upper Division).
According to the proud father in a small piece posted on Facebook, who is known for his distinguished career in journalism, academia, and media advocacy, expressed joy at his daughter’s achievement, describing it as “a beautiful continuation of the Arogundade intellectual legacy.”

Family, friends, and well-wishers have since taken to social media to celebrate the new graduate.
In a brief congratulatory message, Arogundade fondly referred to his daughter as “Fesimaama”, congratulating her for “raising the bar and keeping the family’s academic flame burning bright.”
