Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has congratulated Captain Adebanke Osilaja on her historic emergence as the first licensed Nigerian female pilot to serve with any US legacy airline.
In a statement signed on Friday, November 28, 2025, by NiDCOM’s Media, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa described the milestone as a remarkable breakthrough and a proud moment for Nigeria.
She noted that rising to the rank of Captain in a major American carrier reflects Osilaja’s exceptional professionalism, resilience, and mastery of her craft.
According to her, Osilaja’s success serves as a powerful source of inspiration to young Nigerians worldwide, particularly girls pursuing careers in aviation and other male-dominated professions.
The NiDCOM boss extended her best wishes to the trailblazing flight captain as she advances in her career.
Captain Osilaja was among the honourees at the 2025 National Diaspora Merit Awards held in Abuja in July.
