The Nigeria Police Force has suspended the planned enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy following an interim court order restraining the move.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement, noting that enforcement earlier scheduled to commence on January 2, 2026, has now been placed on hold in strict compliance with a judicial directive.
The statement recalled that the police had on December 15, 2025, announced the resumption of enforcement of the policy as part of efforts to enhance public safety and internal security.
However, the Force was subsequently served with an interim injunction in Suit No. HOR/FHR/M/31/2025, issued on December 17, 2025, preventing it from proceeding with enforcement pending the determination of the substantive case.
Hundeyin stated that the Nigeria Police Force has since entered appearance in court, filed preliminary objections, and applied for the vacation of the interim order.
The matter has been adjourned to January 20, 2026, for further hearing.
“In accordance with the subsisting court order, the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy is hereby placed on hold nationwide pending the court’s decision,” the statement read in part.
