Stand-up comedian Reggie Carroll has died after being shot late Saturday in Southaven, Mississippi, an incident that has sparked an outpouring of grief across the U.S. entertainment industry.
Carroll, 52, was reportedly caught in a shooting incident outside a venue where he had performed earlier in the evening. Despite efforts by emergency responders to save his life, he was declared dead at the scene.
In a statement posted on social media, the Southaven Police Department confirmed the incident, noting that officers responded to a distress call on Burton Lane on August 20, 2025.
“We can confirm that on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, the Southaven Police Department responded to the area of Burton Lane in regard to a shooting. Southaven officers located one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The officers and medical personnel provided life-saving techniques, but the individual succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Reginald Carroll (Maryland),” the statement read.
Authorities further disclosed that an unidentified suspect had been taken into custody and charged with Carroll’s murder.
