The Coalition of Yoruba Self Determination Groups today endorsed the position of Afenifere, which called for convocation of Sovereign National Conference (SNC), which will midwife a new constitution and restructure the nation before 2023 to avert the disintegration of Nigeria.
In a press statement signed by Dr Steve Abioye and made available to newsmen, it says: “We of the Coalition of Yoruba Self Determination Groups hereby wants to make it known clearly to the world that we agree in totality with the position of Afenifere held on its press conference of Thursday eleventh November on the state of the nation in which they were advocating for sovereign national conference which will midwife a new constitution and restructure the nation before 2023.
“This has always being our position and that of other progressive minded Patriots that want the goods of Nigeria.
“We will also like to state it clearly that the proposal to adopt to political solution to the various separatist agitation across the land is a welcome development
“However as good as political solution to the secessionist agitation is, it is not the ultimate approach unless the root causes of such agitation which is gross injustice, marginalisation of the South by the far North are address.
“It is our belief that the ongoing agitations go beyond the agitators :Kanu, Igboho, Akintoye as they are just Arrow heads that even if they are silenced will not stop the crisis” .
