Bowen University has set a new academic milestone as Lotechukwu Isioma Ikpo emerged the institution’s first-ever graduate to attain a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0/5.0, earning her the title of Best Graduating Student at the university’s 20th Convocation Ceremony.
Ikpo’s achievement not only rewrites Bowen’s record books but also symbolises the transformative power of resilience and disciplined scholarship.
Her academic journey, beginning with the Advanced Level Programme, was marked by both determination and personal loss.

In her second year, she suffered the devastating loss of her father, a moment that could have derailed her studies. Instead, she channelled her grief into academic excellence, maintaining an unmatched record of distinction throughout her programme.
The emotional climax of the ceremony came when Ikpo walked the stage several times to receive special honours, culminating in a fully funded Master’s scholarship awarded in recognition of her outstanding performance and academic promise.
Speaking at the convocation, university officials described her as “a model of perseverance, intellectual brilliance, and the spirit of excellence Bowen seeks to cultivate.”
