Veteran gospel musician and broadcaster, Yinka Ayefele, has called for greater respect and understanding for traditional religion practitioners in Nigeria, stressing that their beliefs and heritage should not be undermined.
Ayefele made this appeal while chatting with Oluyinka Ayanda, popularly known as Yinka TNT, stressing that his upbringing in Ipoti-Ekiti shaped his appreciation for indigenous culture and spirituality.
According to him, traditional worshippers deserve dignity and recognition, just like adherents of other religions.
He emphasised that no religious sect should face ridicule or discrimination for their beliefs, adding that he was involved in masquerade traditions as a young man in Ipoti-Ekiti.
The broadcaster revealed that he comes from the lineage of “Yaoriduti” in Ipoti-Ekiti and maintains a deep cultural identity tied to his community’s traditions.
He added that his experiences growing up have given him a balanced perspective on faith and cultural heritage.
