A Nigerian popular actress and filmmaker, Bimbo Ademoye, has accused a Lagos-based sound producer, Emmanuel Davies, popularly known as Lagos Sound, of filing a fraudulent copyright claim that led to the demonetisation of her YouTube channel.
Ademoye, who took to social media in an emotional outburst, alleged that Davies unlawfully claimed ownership of a song used in her movie, “Where Love Lives”, despite her being the rightful copyright holder.
According to her, the claim resulted in YouTube removing monetisation from the movie and placing her entire channel at risk.
In a video shared with her followers, the visibly distressed actress said she had worked tirelessly to build her YouTube platform, describing the sudden demonetisation as a a devastating blow to her livelihood.
“YouTube is a major source of my income”, Ademoye said, noting that the action had affected not only her personally but also members of her production team who depend on her projects for survival.
She alleged that Davies uploaded a song from her movie, falsely named himself as the composer, and suddenly blocked her from earning revenue from content she legally owns.
Ademoye warned that the situation had taken a toll on her mental, physical, and financial well-being.
Calling for immediate intervention, the actress issued a one-hour ultimatum for the alleged copyright claim to be lifted, urging anyone who knows Emmanuel Davies to prevail on him to reserve that action.
