The wife of the Chairman of Afijio Local Government in Oyo State, Mrs. Kehinde Iyabode Aikomo, has urged women in the area to actively participate in the development of both the local government and the nation. She called on women to play their part in advancing the progress of their communities and Nigeria as a whole.
Mrs Aikomo sounded this clarion call during her tour of the ten wards of the local government to interact with the women and to appreciate the people of the local government for their support for the Chairman, Hon. Olufemi Emmanuel Aikomo.
While addressing women in each of the wards, Mrs. Aikomo emphasized that women have much to contribute to their communities and should remain steadfast in their efforts to ensure the progress of Afijio Local Government.

During the meetings, various issues affecting women were discussed. Many women expressed concerns about being marginalized within their communities and highlighted the pressing need for empowerment initiatives. They emphasized that providing women with the necessary resources, skills, and opportunities would enable them to lead more meaningful and independent lives, contributing more effectively to both their families and the broader society.
Mrs. Aikomo reassured the women that concrete steps would be taken to address their concerns and explore avenues for their empowerment. She emphasized that the administration is committed to tackling the issues raised and providing opportunities for women to thrive. Aikomo called on everyone – both women and other stakeholders – to continue supporting the local government’s initiatives aimed at transforming Afijio and elevating it to a model of progress and development within Oyo State.
She expressed optimism that, with collective effort, the local government could achieve remarkable success and reach new heights of excellence.
In each of the wards, Mrs. Aikomo generously distributed gift items and made cash donations to the women. These gestures were aimed at providing immediate support to the recipients while also reinforcing her commitment to improving the welfare of women across the local government. The contributions were met with gratitude, as they symbolized not only assistance but also a tangible step toward empowering women and fostering solidarity within the community.
