The immediate past Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Professor Olanike Kudirat Adeyemo, has reacted to her replacement following the recent cabinet reshuffle carried out by Governor Seyi Makinde.
According to a statement shared via her official Facebook page, Adeyemo confirmed that her tenure came to an end on Monday, January 5, 2026, after the governor reconstituted his cabinet.
Adeyemo expressed deep appreciation to Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve the state, noting that her time as SSG spanned from July 25, 2023, to January 5, 2026.
She wrote, “I am sincerely grateful to His Excellency for the privilege to serve Oyo State”, adding that she also thanked God for divine grace, enablement, and faithfulness throughout her period in office.
Addressing what she described as “mixed messages” from the public following her exit, Adeyemo clarified that political appointments, aside from statutory boards; do not have a fixed tenure.
“For clarification on account of the mixed messages I have been receiving, aside from statutory boards, political appointments have no tenure; it is the prerogative of the Executive Governor to constitute and reconstitute his team at all,” she said.
Adeyemo congratulated his successor, Professor Musibau Adetunji Babatunde, wishing him success in his new role as SSG.
She concluded by once again expressing gratitude to Governor Makinde for both the honour of serving and the support she received throughout her tenure.
Governor Makinde had earlier announced a cabinet reshuffle, which led to Adeyemo’s replacement as part of efforts to reposition his administration.
