Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, is set to experience a cultural and media spectacle as iconic Fuji maestro, Adewale Ayuba, storms the city on Monday, May 5, for the 20th anniversary celebration of ParrotXtra Media Network.
The grand occasion, themed around “Southwest Leadership & Legacy”, will also feature the official launch of the Southwest Leadership & Legacy Summit, the first of its kind in the region.
The event will take place at The Excellessor, a newly inaugurated venue located beside BCOS at Basorun, Ibadan, beginning at 11 a.m. and is strictly by invitation.
The celebration will be graced by top political and traditional leaders, with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State playing host to his counterparts from other Southwestern states.
The gathering will reflect on the theme: “Southwest: Critical Issues to Shape the Future”, a topic that will be explored in a keynote lecture by Dr. Seye Oyeleye, Director General of the DAWN Commission.
Adding royal prestige to the event, three of the region’s foremost traditional rulers will serve as Royal Fathers of the Day. They include the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade (Owoade I), the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I), and the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba (Dr.) Adedokun Abolarin (Aroyinkeye I).
In addition, distinguished stateswoman and former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, will serve as the Mother of the Day. The event will be chaired by respected media icon and diplomat, Ambassador (Dr.) Yemi Farounbi.
Other eminent guests expected at the event include General Oladayo Popoola (rtd.), former military governor of Oyo and Ogun States; Basorun Dele Momodu, media entrepreneur; Senator Babafemi Ojudu; Barrister Iyiola Oladokun; Professor Ayobami Salami; Barrister Akeem Agbaje; AIG Tunji Alapini (rtd.); Alhaji Hassan Fatungase; and Mr. Godwin Mekwuye of Vivid Imagination, among many others.
The celebratory mood will reach its peak with a thrilling live performance by Dr. Adewale Ayuba, who is set to serenade guests with timeless hits like Koloba Koloba and other fan favorites.
At the heart of the celebration is Ambassador Olayinka Agboola, the publisher of ParrotXtra Media Network, who also turns 60 on the same day.
A seasoned journalist, Agboola’s impressive media career spans renowned platforms such as Fame Weekly Magazine, ThisDay Newspaper, Ovation International Magazine, Sketch Newspapers, and the Nigerian Tribune. He also previously served as Deputy Chief Press Secretary to a former Governor of Oyo State.
