Social media commentator and activist Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known across multiple platforms as @justadetoun, has launched a scathing verbal attack on Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, accusing him of intimidation, abuse of power, and intolerance of criticism.
In a strongly worded post shared on X, Onajobi alleged that the governor had threatened to have her jailed, insisting that previous administrations in the state failed to silence her and that the current government would not succeed either.
“She said, “You said you would send me to jail. You don’t know me. Your predecessors failed to do so”, adding that the governor cannot subdue her or suppress dissenting voices in Nigeria.
Onajobi further accused the Ogun State government of deploying the Department of State Service (DSS) against an innocent pastor, describing the action as part of a broader attempt to intimidate critics.
She alleged that cybercrime laws were being weaponised by politicians to silence Nigerians under the guise of cyberstalking.
According to her, public office holders should be open to scrutiny, stressing that citizens have the right to take an interest in government activities and investigate how public funds are used.
She also described Governor Abiodun as a non-performing and arrogant leader, accusing his administration of harassment, waste of public resources, and poor governance, while insisting that Ogun State belongs to the people.
Onajobi’s claims have sparked debate on social media, with supporters framing her comments as a stand against shrinking civic space, while critics argue her language was confrontational
Asiwaju Autos and properties commented, “This man has refused to work in the state, go and look at Oyo state, but this useless governor has nth to show for over 7 years, very useless and incompetent governor. See what others are doing in their state when you leave the position, what will people say about/ Shame.”
Akinwumi said, “Make dem drag Dapo well, I mount front seat.”
Adekunle noted, “Probably she’s well connected, because dragging a governor like this. Ahh.”
Isaac Ojo, referring to Abiodun, said, “He has totally abandoned his duties as a governor, forgetting that he is expected to deliver on his campaign promises.”
Some people who sympathize with the governor condemned Adetoun for being rude to the governor. Among them is Francis U., who said, “Madam, go rest.”
At the time of filing this report, the Ogun State Government has not officially responded to the allegations.
Adetun’s trouble began when the Ogun State Police Command declared her wanted after she failed to honour the invitation extended to her. She was invited over an allegation of cyberbullying, Governor Abiodun levelled against her.
Consequently, the Ogun State Police Command filed a six-count charge against her at the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court. accusing her of using social media and other internet-enabled computer platforms to publish false accusations against the Ogun State Government and to further bully the Governor of Ogun State, in breach of the Cybercrimes Act.
