Popular Nigerian actress, Simiatu Adeyinka Obisesan, popularly known as Omo Elepa Ojuelegba, has appealed to movie entrepreneurs and well-meaning Nigerians to sponsor her with ₦8 million to produce a film titled “Ipadabo Ojuelegba”.
Obisesan made the appeal while featuring on a YouTube interview channel, where she said the proposed movie would showcase her versatility and street credibility as an actress.
She explained that although she is well known in the industry, she lacks the financial capacity to independently fund the project.
“I have fame, but I don’t have money. If I can get about ₦8 million, I will be able to produce a budget-friendly movie titled “Ipadabo Ojuelegba”. In the film, I will act like a thug and do things people never imagined I could do. But I need money to make this movie happen,” she said.
The actress also opened up on her troubled marital experiences, revealing that her personal life has been marked by disappointment and hardship.
According to her, her first marriage collapsed due to rejection from her former husband’s family, who were uncomfortable with her acting career.
“My first husband loved me, but his family didn’t like me because I was an actress. They made my marriage hell. I had to leave the marriage, even though we had a child together,” she recounted.
Obisesan further disclosed that her second marriage to a fellow actor, Arakangudu, was also fraught with challenges.
“May my second husband continue to rest in peace. I married Arakangudu, but I faced another problem. I once collected ₦34,000 from my mother and gave it to him to jointly produce a film. After the production, he took the film to the cinema without informing me while I was sick. I cried bitterly,” she said.
She added that the situation worsened during her pregnancy, alleging neglect and infidelity.
“While I was heavily pregnant, he stopped coming home and claimed he was busy with work. I later discovered he was seeing another woman. He wasn’t there when our child fell sick. Arakangudu really maltreated me,” she added.
