Veteran actress Mrs. Omilani, wife of renowned actor Oluyinka Omilani, has spoken out in defense of the people of Ibadan, stating that contrary to popular stereotypes, not all indigenes of the city engage in robbery or criminal activities.
She made the statement in her house during a conversation with prominent Nollywood actor Kunle Iyiola Afod, who hails from the Oke Are area of Ibadan.
Reacting to the revelation of Afod’s roots, Mrs. Omilani praised the moral values of people from Oke Are, emphasising their aversion to dishonesty and theft.
“People from Oke Are are very principled. You can’t afford to be anything less than good if you’re from there,” she said. They don’t tolerate cheating or stealing.”
“There’s a popular saying that Ibadan people ride horses to steal, but those from Oke Are don’t engage in such acts. The ones involved in such activities are usually from areas like Beere and Oje”, she added.
