Veteran Actor Sanusi Adewale Aiti has advised young people to make deliberate and personal choices when it comes to marriage, warning against entering marital unions out of pressure, pity, convenience, status or any consideration different from the standard you have set for yourself.
Sanusi advised while sharing his views on relationships and family life on Talk to B, a YouTube interview platform, stressing that marriage should be based on genuine compatibility and personal conviction, not societal expectations.
According to him, people should not marry because of public opinion, pregnancy, financial status, or lack of alternatives.
“Don’t marry out of pity. Don’t marry because of what people will say. Don’t marry because the lady is pregnant for you, or because she is the only available option, or because she is rich,” the actor said.
He urged prospective couples to clearly identify the qualities they desire in a life partner and ensure those expectations are met before marriage.
“Marry your choice – your kind of person in every respect related to wife and husband. You know what you want in particular, please go for it. If she doesn’t meet the qualities you want, don’t marry her,” he warned.
Sanusi cautioned that settling for the wrong partner often leads to dissatisfaction and infidelity, which may result in children being born outside of wedlock.
“If you marry someone who doesn’t meet what you want, you will need a supply elsewhere. But if you have what you truly want, you will not look outside. Once there is a tendency, either of you may end up having children out of wedlock,” he added.
