Former Minister of Communication and 2027 governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebayo Shittu, has declared that he would introduce Sharia in Oyo State if elected governor in 2027
Shittu assrted during an appearance on Naija Unfiltered, a podcast produced by Symfoni, while responding to questions on the growing controversy over moves to establish Sharia arbitration in parts of the South-west
Addressing fears surrounding the institutionalisation of Sharia law in the region, Shittu challenged Christians who oppose the idea, asking them to clearly identify how Sharia would harm them.
He asked, “Let me ask you, how does Sharia law, if institutionalised, affect you as a Christian? How does it affect you negatively?
He further argued that Sharia law is not binding on non-Muslim, insisting that Christians cannot be compelled to submit to its provisions in any community where it exists.
He stated, ” A lot of people oppose Sharia out of intolerance. That is the truth. If there is Sharia in any community, no Christian can be forced to go under Sharia.”
