The 2025 Lt. Col. (Dr.) Tolu Aduroja Memorial Medical Outreach brought smiles, healing, and renewed hope to residents of Ibadan on Friday, October 24, 2025, as more than 167 patients benefited from free medical consultations, surgeries, and medications at the Naomi Medical Centre, Oke Padi, Ibadan.
The event, which began at 9:00 a.m. and concluded around 6:30 p.m., was held in memory of the late Lt. Col. (Dr.) Tolu Aduroja, a distinguished United States military physician and humanitarian, remembered for his lifelong commitment to serving the less privileged and advancing global health.
The Medical Director of Naomi Medical Centre, Dr. Abiola Aduroja, who led the operations, revealed that several patients were successfully treated for a range of ailments, including malaria, upper respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and malnutrition/anaemia, in addition to routine screenings for blood pressure and blood glucose levels.

According to him, a number of patients also underwent surgical procedures during the outreach.
He said, “The operations for several patients were carried out successfully. We also booked additional patients for surgeries ranging from appendectomies and herniorrhaphies to fibroid removals and hysterectomies. Some of the patients will return for follow-up care in the coming weeks.”
Dr. Aduroja explained that the free medical outreach was a continuation of a programme initiated by Dr. Tolu Aduroja and Dr. Ayo Obuseh with a team of United States-based Nigerian-American medical experts, who have pledged to return to Nigeria annually to support and treat less privileged individuals free of charge.
He noted that the medical experts collaborated with Naomi Medical Centre, which provided the venue, facilities, and local coordination for the exercise.
Dr Aduroja stated that throughout the day, volunteer doctors, nurses, and pharmacists conducted general health consultations, dispensed prescribed medications, and held health education sessions on preventive care, hygiene, and nutrition.
According to him, the success of the outreach was also attributed to the overwhelming support of Dr. Dele Aduroja, wife of the late Dr. Tolu Aduroja, whose continued dedication and encouragement have ensured that her husband’s legacy of compassion and service lives on through the annual program.
Participants both volunteers and beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Biola Aduroja, Dr. Dele Aduroja, and Dr. Ayo Obuseh, for sustaining the memorial initiative and keeping Dr. Tolu Aduroja’s vision of accessible healthcare for all alive.
One participant stated, “We all blessed God for the evergreen memory of Dr. Tolu Aduroja. He touched so many lives while he was alive, and even after his passing, his legacy continues through this programme. Truly, his good works live on.”
The Lt. Col. (Dr.) Tolu Aduroja Memorial Medical Outreach has become an annual tradition
