The All Progressive Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in the 2020 Ondo State Governorship Election held on Saturday October 10, 2020, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has won in nine out of the twelve local government election results so far announced, conceding three to his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the results released, Akeredolu, who had scored 178,854 votes, won in Akoko South East, Idanre, Owo, Ondo East, Akoko North-West, Akoko South-West, Akoko North-East, Ire and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Governments.
Jegede, who scored 141,083 votes, won in three local governments which are: Akure South, Akure North and Ifedore.
Coming 3rd in the election is Agboola Ajayi of Zenith Labour Party, who is yet to win a local government.
The Chief Returning Officer of the election, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI), has adjourned the sitting for the continuation of the announcement of the result of the remaining six local government areas until 9am.
